I’m Gautam, a Design Leader working at the intersection of UX, AI, and product strategy.
Over 23+ years, I’ve helped teams build products in e‑commerce, fintech, healthcare, and SaaS — and now I focus on AI‑native platforms where decisions, risk, and complexity are high.
Today, I lead design and product at CIOptimize, shaping a strategic resource orchestration platform and its AI assistant.
What I do best
What you should hire me for
I’m at my best when:
- Defining the product vision and UX strategy for AI‑heavy tools
- Turning ambiguous business problems into clear, testable product bets
- Building design systems that keep complex platforms coherent as they scale
- Mentoring designers to operate confidently with AI in their workflows
My recent work spans AI governance (NexusAI), AI assistants (CIOptimize AI Assistant), and design systems for multi‑module SaaS products.
Career arc
How I got here
I started my career in visual and interface design, working on consumer and enterprise products across India and global markets. Over time, I shifted from “making screens” to owning end‑to‑end product outcomes — partnering with PMs, engineers, and business stakeholders to decide what we should build and why.
Along the way, I’ve worked with teams at Support.com, Ola, Accenture, Tekion, Evive, Goodworker, and now CIOptimize. Each role nudged me closer to complex, data‑rich systems where UX, business rules, and technology are deeply intertwined.
The last two years have been about AI: governance, orchestration, and decision support. My focus now is on designing AI‑native experiences that are trustworthy, explainable, and actually useful in real workflows.
Principles
How I think about design & AI
AI is a material, not magic
It should be treated like any other capability: understood, constrained, and designed around, not worshipped.
Clarity beats cleverness
Especially in AI and data‑heavy tools, the interface should reduce cognitive load, not show off.
Systems over moments
Good UX at this level is about coherent systems: interaction patterns, language, and governance that stay consistent across modules and teams.
Design is a team sport
The best work happens when designers, PMs, engineers, and domain experts are genuinely co‑creating, not handing off.
Ethics is part of the brief
With AI, questions of bias, safety, and misuse are not edge cases; they’re core design constraints.

Highlights & impact
- 23+ years in UX and product design across E‑Commerce, Fintech, Healthcare, and SaaS
- Led design for AI‑native products: NexusAI (governance) and CIOptimize (resource orchestration & AI assistant)
- Mentored designers globally via online platforms like ADPList, and offline in design schools
- Built and scaled design systems used across multiple squads and products
How I work
Collaboration style
With PMs and founders, I’m a thought partner — stress‑testing problem statements, shaping product strategy, and turning hypotheses into experiments.
With engineers, I focus on clear interaction contracts, pragmatic design systems, and shipping value early instead of chasing perfect UI.
With designers, I care about building judgment: understanding trade‑offs, thinking in systems, and using AI tools thoughtfully rather than blindly.
Beyond work
A human slice of life
Outside work, I’m usually deep into psychology, philosophy, and the Bhagavad Gita—or hunting down new food spots across Bengaluru. Long walks with music are my moving whiteboard; that’s where the best ideas snap into place.
I also run random street‑level interviews with strangers to steal their perspective. I don’t need a research lab—the entire planet is my lab, and it keeps throwing insight at me.
Right now, I’m writing a book on speculative design in the digital world.
